Partnership, just right

OUR HISTORY

Lower Middle Market Specialists

Founded in 1991 and focused on investing in lower middle market companies for three decades, the Graycliff Partners team previously operated as the U.S. Private Equity division of HSBC.  In 2011, the investment team spun off to form Graycliff Partners, an independent investment firm.

Today, we manage over $1 Billion in investments. We’ve completed more than 100 transactions and have a proven track record of generating strong results for our valued shareholders and founders. While no two situations are the same, our investment focus remains unchanged: lower middle market companies primarily in the U.S., typically in niche manufacturing, value-added distribution, and industrial services.

What Makes Us Different?

Get to know us and you’ll notice something different by design. The vast majority of our investments have involved partnering with founders and management teams. The product of three-decade history partnering with founders: a thoughtfully cultivated approach that allows us to understand the unique set of circumstances facing each business owner. It can be summed up in three words: Listen, Learn, Leverage. We call it L3.

OUR Culture

A Cohesive Team, A Collegial Style

We are particularly proud of the stability and cohesiveness of the team at Graycliff. Our leadership team has worked together for well over a decade, and we’ve never had a senior member of the firm resign. We treat relationships as our most valuable asset – within our own operations, and with our company management teams, our deal partners and our investors.

What unites us in our work is our shared values. At Graycliff, we prize collaboration, team effort and long-term perspective. We believe these are the key ingredients not only for investment results, but to make sure we are the kind of partner that people want to come back and work with again.
